Happy Halloween everyone!
Hope everyone had a fun day! Halloween is always a holiday that creeps up on me (wordplay intended), and I always end up rushing a costume! This year, my friend and I dressed up as salt and pepper shakers. The costumes around campus today were quite awesome and nostalgic. Some of my favourites included:
- King Bob and the two diggers (Recess!)
- a girl with a basket and bike handlebars attached in the front, with a figure of E.T. inside the basket
- Misty from Pokemon… but done by a guy!
It was pretty great seeing all the festivities around campus. I snagged two awesome looking cookies at the Enactus bake sale; they were fundraising for the BC Children’s Hospital! Enactus is one of the many clubs run at BCIT, with their main focus being entrepreneurship. They do some great community work, check them out!
My class was nothing short of awesome today. Not only did we have cool costumes (Waldo, ninja, unicorn), but we are graced with two amazing bakers. The ninja created pumpkin oreo cheesecake cups, and another classmate made personalized tombstone cupcakes. Her caption for us: “because you are all dead to me”. Haha, we’ll take our love to the grave.
This is one of my favourite things about BCIT: class sizes. Here, class sizes are 16-25 people, and if studying full-time, you are with this “set” for your whole program! We learn together, study together, struggle together, and grow together. There is something about this pressure-cooker environment that breaks and bonds us. As students, these bonds stand the test of group projects and finals, and ultimately come out the other end as colleagues in the industry! I can honestly say that I have watched my classmates become better problem solvers, team members, and leaders in the span of our year here.
The doorbell awaits! Talk to you soon :)
